Flake tools are simple, throw-away tools used for a moment of time, then discarded. If the task was long and the tool was handy, some resharpening might have taken place making it easier to detect among other debris. The small amount of wear along a flake’s edge or the slight step fractures that might occur from use is difficult to detect, even for the trained eye. While these tools might be recovered most often at a campsite, they could occur anywhere. They might be most difficult to detect at a reduction site where quarry blanks were being knapped into finished points, but they may be there depending upon the need.
