Name: Wade points were named for examples from several sites near Wade Landing on the Tennessee River in Limestone County, Alabama.

Age: Jerald Ledbetter suggested that the Wade type was the final blade type to be introduced in the Late Archaic period dating between 4500 and 3500 BP.

Description: The Wade is a medium-sized point measuring between 42 and 63 mm in length.The blade is triangular with long barbs and an acute distal end.The stem is straight with a straight to slightly incurvate basal edge.

Distribution: The primary region of distribution for the Wade type is Northwest Georgia to as far south as Georgia’s Fall Line.
